From the seafood treasures of the Atlantic to beloved Maritime comfort foods, I had the pleasure of exploring some of Nova Scotia's notable culinary highlights. From my recent Fall food escapades (Top left corner clockwise):
π¦ͺ Digby Scallops – Sweet, tender prized scallops from the Bay of Fundy, served with squash at The Bicycle Thief. Insert: raw scallops with lemongrass Bar Kismet (Top 100 restaurants in π)
π₯£ Nova Scotia Seafood Chowder – A hearty, creamy and chunky bowl loaded with Atlantic seafood, haddock, salmon, mussels and lobster at The Canteen on Portland in Dartmouth
π¦ͺ Whole Belly Clams – Deep-fried, golden and crispy, served with tartar sauce. A true East Coast treat!
π¦ Lobster Rolls – A Maritime classic must! From creamy, mayo-based lobster salad with celery to a delicious twist with lime and chili oil, and even warmed with garlic butter on brioche. We tried a few different renditions, including Canteen's famous Crobster π¦π¦ Roll.
π¦ͺ Nova Scotia Oysters – Fresh, briny and served raw with π. The simplest preparation is the best.
π Fish & Chips – Three different renditions, but the haddock The Narrows Public House was our favourite. Generous, flaky fish with an incredibly light, crispy and aromatic batter, served with tartare sauce and a heap of fries.
π₯ Halifax Donair & Garlic Fingers – You can't visit Halifax without trying its famous beef donair with that distinctive sweet garlic sauce, ideally accompanied by a side of cheesy garlic fingers! Tony's is an institution since 1976. Donair is Halifax' official food even over lobster π€
Atlantic Canada, you've certainly left me hungry for more! π¦π¦πππ₯£π°π«❤️
As always, the culinary adventure doesn't end as just travel eats! Next stop: my kitchen, where I'll be recreating some of these Maritime favourites, one delicious dish at a time! π¦
