During winter, nothing quite warms the soul like soul food. Originating from the kitchens of the Southern U.S., hearty servings of foods such as fried fish, shrimp & grits, cornbread and black-eyed peas have been doing just that for generations. Of course, along the way, there have been many dishes added to the comfort food canon — from chicken soup to stews. National Post`s Gastropost wanted to see what foods soothed gastroposters` souls. Whether it`s going straight to the source with a chicken-fried steak or a special connection to a lesser-known comfort dish, we got to show we got soul!
Excited to share that my husband`s birthday dinner to me-- French Slow-Cooker Chicken and Beans Cassoulet photo made it in today's National Post's Gastropost submitted to the mission of Soul Kitchen! He was pretty impressed...
